Saginaw, Michigan

Most people associate country music with the South. But there are lots of country songs that are set in other places. One example is this little ditty from the 60’s: “Saginaw, Michigan” by Lefty Frizzell. Although the song is about a man who grew up in Saginaw, the song also spends significant time in Alaska. Nothing like a song that defies its genre’s cliches to make you day, right?
