Put a Lou Dobbs Song in your Status Day III

December 13, 2010 § Leave a comment

We at Arthur have a pretty strange sense of humor, and nothing illustrates that better than Put a Lou Dobbs Song in Your Status Day, which is, coincidentally, today!  If you need a bit of stress relief from finals, or just want to know why we keep putting Lou Dobbs on our covers, here is our answer.  Check out the origin story on the Facebook page, or after the jump.

Now, all together:  “Just a small town girl, living in a Lou Dobbs worllllllddddddddd….”

Arthur Issue 6 is printed!

December 11, 2010 § Leave a comment

AWW YISS, it’s time for another issue!  This time around, we’ve got hipster racism, literary crushes, the triumphant poetic return of Jon James and Jon Beagley, why Scott Pilgrim isn’t as awesome as you think, and quite possibly the worst comic Virginia has ever drawn.  Now available at Espresso Royale, Wanderer’s Teahouse, and the RCAH hallways in Snyder-Phillips.  Also, if you stop by the comics signing on Wednesday, we’ll have copies of Issue 6 AND Issue 5!  Retro!  Seriously, go get a copy!  Exclamation point!

Shameless Self-Promotion, also comics.

Hey!  Do you like comics?  Do you like supporting student artists?  Then boogey on down to 21st Century Comics and Games anytime between 5 and 7 pm on December 15Ryan Claytor‘s latest batch of students will be presenting the comics they created in the class, bound into awesome little books and available for purchase!  They’ve got some mad skillz (the students, not the books).  Arthur’s very own Virginia Heinen will be there with her comics (whether or not her skillz are mad is up for debate).  She’s hoping bring some issues of Arthur to hand out too.

Here’s the Facebook event, and here’s Ryan’s considerably more elegant post about it.

The picture above is by Alisa McQuaid, who is awesome, and the one below is by Chris Schneider, who is also awesome.

Also, did you know?  Arthur’s very own Jon James also took this class last semester!  He made some badass stuff, yes he did.

Issue 5 is printed! Also, you should really go to this art show.

First and foremost: Arthur, Issue 5 is printed!  Censorship, classical music scandals, the Top 10 Literary Characters you Wouldn’t Want to Meet in a Dark Alley, overrated directors, subversive book plots, and more!  You can pick up your copy at Espresso Royale, Wanderer’s Teahouse, and the RCAH office in Snyder-Phillips; we’ll also be leaving them wherever we feel like, so keep your eyes open.

Also, just a reminder that we’ll be handing out copes at the (SCENE) Metrospace Black and White Show tomorrow, so please stop by!   The gallery is at 110 Charles Street, next to Georgio’s pizza and across from the Habitrail parking thing.  The opening runs from 6-9 and is bound to be sweet.

Birdman at an art show!

Guys.  Hey guys.  You should check out the Black and White show at (SCENE) Metrospace.  There’s going to be a giant birdman there, giving you the thumbs-up and generally being cool.

Also, we’re hoping to have copies of Issue 5 at the opening reception, so why not stop by and pick one up?

The opening is from 6-9 pm on Friday, October 29, for free!  The exhibition will be up until December 12.
